Tind

Some places make the landscape feel bigger.

That is what Tind does. It is the highest of the homes at Sommarbukt, a private holiday home near Tromsø with the Ullsfjord and the Lyngen Alps opening out below. After a day in the city, on the water or out in the mountains, this is where the north feels especially vast — and especially quiet.

We built Tind around that feeling. Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows bring the fjord, the mountains and the changing Arctic sky deep into the living space. In summer, the Midnight Sun stays with you long after dinner. In winter, the darkness opens the way for the Northern Lights. The view is always there, but it is never quite the same.

Tind welcomes up to six guests across three bedrooms, including a cosy loft bedroom. The fully equipped kitchen is ready for slow breakfasts and dinners shared around the table. Underfloor heating, an open fireplace and what we believe are exceptionally comfortable beds make this Northern Norway accommodation warm and welcoming when the weather turns Arctic outside.

Spend a day on the fjord, explore the surrounding landscape or follow the road towards the Lyngen Alps. Then come home, light the fire and watch the last light leave the mountains. Tind is a place where the landscape feels immense, while the house feels entirely your own.
