Sommarbukt is located in Sjursnes, on the Ulsfjord, approximately 67 km from Tromsø Airport (TOS). The drive takes around 50 to 60 minutes by car, mostly along scenic fjord roads.
We recommend renting a car at the airport. It's the most flexible way to explore the region and essential for reaching us in winter.
There is limited public bus service to Sjursnes, but schedules are infrequent and not suited to arrival or departure times. A rental car or private transfer is strongly recommended.
We're happy to suggest local transfer providers. Just reach out before your stay.
Yes. The road to Sjursnes is a maintained public road and is kept open year-round. Winter driving in Northern Norway is common, but if you're not experienced with snow and ice, we recommend booking a car with winter tyres (standard practice for Norwegian rentals in winter) and driving carefully. Allow extra travel time.
Both Tind and Nordlys accommodate up to 6 guests across 3 bedrooms. Tind has 1 bathroom, Nordlys has 2.

The Northern Lights season runs from late September through late March, when nights are dark enough. The peak months are November through February.
Sommarbukt's location on the Ulsfjord, away from town light pollution, makes it one of the finest spots in the Tromsø region for aurora viewing. On clear nights, the lights are often visible directly from the living room or terrace.
No one can. The aurora depends on solar activity, cloud cover, and clear skies. What we can say is that Sommarbukt's position gives you the best possible conditions: dark, low-pollution skies and an unobstructed northern horizon over the fjord. Many guests see them multiple times during their stay.
Yes. Tromsø has many reputable Northern Lights tour operators offering guided chases by bus, boat, or snowmobile. We're happy to share recommendations on request.
